Regular Town Board Meeting – Monday, September 8, 2008-7:30 PM – Linn Town Hall
Chairman Bollweg called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. Present at roll call were Chairman Bollweg, Supervisors Weiss, Palmer, Allis, Holden, Clerk Polyock, Atty. Schiltz. There were about seventeen (17) citizens present.
Holden/Allis motion to approve the minutes of the previous meetings as distributed. Carried without negative vote.
Weiss/Allis motion to approve the bills as submitted. Carried without negative vote.
Comments from the Public: Allan Polyock commented on the purchase of a truck to replace Fire Trucks 3360 & 3361. He felt the Town would be better off to buy a small truck for the dive team as a lot of money was just spent of refurbishing 3360.
Pier Permits: Allis/Palmer motion to approve the Cypress Properties, Inc pier permit. Carried without negative vote.
Palmer/Weiss motion to approve the Rick Nunemaker pier permit. Carried without negative vote.
Plan Commission: Supervisor Weiss reported that Kelly & Debra Elliott appeared before the Plan Commission with a re-zone with conditional use request. The plan commission approved it with the following conditions: total number of boat lifts is no more than 100 units and no further subdivision of the property. Weiss/Palmer motion to approve the re-zone with conditional use request of Kelly & Debra Elliott with the conditions that no more than 100 boat lifts be stored and there be no further subdivision of the property as recommended by the Plan Commission. Carried without negative vote.
Palmer/Weiss motion to approve the CSM of Frank Terrence & Nancy Blanchard as recommended by the Plan Commission. Carried. Weiss abstained.
Protective Services: Committee met and action needed on items are further down the agenda.
Highway Committee: no meeting
Harbor Commission: they met and went over some 2009 budget items
Buildings & Grounds: no meeting
Public Parks: Committee met and is working on the CORP plan. They found some materials to help with the Conservancy issues. The Town received a $5,000 grant to use to remove buckthorn and honeysuckle (will be on Special meeting agenda for Friday). Thank you to the Garden Club for donating a shade tree.
Environmental Agency: Supervisor Palmer asked if the safe swimming signs were posted. Jeanne will have to check. The gypsy moth infestation is bad in Wooddale and on Hillside Road. The DNR will pay 15% and the Town would pay 85% to spray. Cost is about $30/acre.
Lake Use Committee: no report
Holden/Weiss motion to approve the resolution requesting border agreement. Carried without negative vote.
Weiss/Allis motion to approve the purchase of a truck for the fire department. Carried without negative vote.
Weiss/Holden motion to approve sending one (1) member to open water dive class. Rasch said the person interested is a 4 year member of the fire department and the cost would be $325. Carried without negative vote.
Allis/Bollweg motion to approve sending four (4) members to extrication class. The cost is $375/person. Carried without negative vote.
Holden/Palmer motion to approve hiring Susan Berris as a part-time police officer. Carried without negative vote.
Palmer/Allis motion to approve the building inspector to act on a complaint and send a certified letter to William Grunow giving him a certain amount of time to comply. Carried without negative vote.
Weiss/Allis motion to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 pm.
